As most of you would be aware, certain symbols are taught at the Reiki II class. With the help of these symbols, one is able to perform distant healing, which is said to be twice as powerful and four times faster than "hands on healing". I will narrate below, some of my experiences which adequately substantiate this claim.

1. A "chat" friend of mine was absent on the net one day. When asked why, she told me she had flu. With her permission I sent her healing from here in Singapore (she lives in USA). A scan of her body did not reveal any signs of flu, however, my attention was suddenly focused on her lower abdomen and I allowed the energy flow to that area. I sent her an email saying what I had found and that I suspected something wrong with her uterus. She replied saying she had suspected cancer of the uterus and 'flu was a lie as she was too embarrassed.

Well I sent her healing for three days thereafter, and I tried to "look inside" and I visualised as if a lot of dirt was being scraped from inside the lining of the uterus and being thrown out, just as a dog would kick dirt from the ground.

This gave her plenty of relief and was eventually cured. Readers will note that the body automatically draws the energy where required.

2. A lady asked for healing for chronic migraine. When I sent the healing I found that the energy was travelling to her stomach and I got the feeling that it was bloated. Two days of healing cured her of her constipation and the headache was gone. The gases, because of constipation, were rising upwards causing the headache.

Please note that in "hands on" healing method, our tendency would have to been to treat the head only, whereas here the energy has flown directly to the affected area that was the stomach and not the head.

3. Somebody requested healing for "acidity". While sending the healing, I asked her if she had 'asthma" as well, because I felt my breathing going shallow as I did the healing. She was amazed. Asthma being with her for 20 years, she had learnt to live with it; acidity being a recent phenomenon, she wanted to complain.

The point I would like highlight here is that Reiki is like water; it flows wherever there is a crack. Therefore, even if the patient complains of one problem, the energy flows through the whole body and works at all places where there could be problems.

However, it may be noted that it does not mean that the "hands on" method should be discarded once the student proceeds to the second level. One should learn to draw a line and decide when to perform distant healing and when to perform hands on. There are cases where 'hands on' healing works better than distant healing method. With the use of the symbols, you still have that extra power you can use while doing hands on healing. Cases of depression, people of old age, etc. prefer "hands on" healing due to psychological reasons.
