I am married, with children and grandchildren. I live near Blackpool, Lancashire (UK).

I have been a secondary school teacher for most of my adult life, though I started off as a farm labourer. I have two degrees - B.Ed (Hons) and M.Ed. For many years I was also an instructor in mountaineering and rock climbing on a part-time basis. My last teaching post was Senior Curriculum Co-ordinator and English teacher in a school for Complex Learning Difficulties from which I took early retirement in July 2002. Over the last 5 years, before retirement from teaching I felt that I would like to do less teaching and more of the Reiki. It did not happen his way, I just got more of both until It felt right to go.

As a Reiki master (Usui Shiko Ryoho) I see Reiki as being quite simple. I suppose that my teaching has always involved me in making simple what others make complex and my approach to Reiki is no different.

For me, Reiki is the transference of 'energy' from the 'universal energy' to a myself or others for the purpose of 'healing'. The term healing includes a physical, mental (including emotional) and spiritual context and does not necessarily mean 'to cure'. To a great extent I find myself led, prodded and pushed to do certain things, which in hindsight are pivotal in the development of my understanding and practice of Reiki. It seems to me that my path involves me in simplifying and dropping the crutches, which are a feature of western Reiki. These days all I seem to need is an 'intent' to do. At the moment I would describe my form of Reiki as being a form of 'guided Reiki'.

As a full master I deliver healing sessions as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree (master) training along with an advanced practitioner training at 2nd and 3rd degree level. I deliver these courses to small groups or individuals on request rather than at set times.

In my practice I now offer and use reiki (master practitioner/teacher - Usui Shiko Ryoho), EFT (practitioner and advanced practitioner through Garry Craig’s internet ‘content’ training plus advanced practitioner/teacher through the UK AAMET organisation) and TAT ® (TAT Professional ® /TAT Trainer ®). I also run classes and support others in personal spiritual growth.

As an extension to my support of other Reiki practitioners I organise and run a Reiki share in my home, which sometimes involves members of the general public being Reiki receivers. This takes place on the second Monday evening (7.00pm to 9.30pm ish) of each month. All are welcome if they contact me beforehand so that I can minimise any problems.
